BOOK: Raw – Design By Nature by Frances Briggs
Posted on | May 23, 2010 |
RAW: Design by Nature is by Frances Briggs with photography by Frances Janisch, Peter Baasch & Daron Chatz. First published in 2000 but more than ever, this book hits what I think is the style that I want in case I win the lotto and build a minimum 2k sqm countryside house. Back to basics style that is simple & sensual.
With vibrant earth tones, tribal fabrics here and there, rough outdoor flooring and with dashes furniture made of sleek stainless steel or metal with automotive paint finishes, etc. Ingredients of natural decorating that this book calls… RAW.
From the book… “The living space is a sanctuary, and Frances Briggs details the interior design elements that pull us toward nature and give us refuge from our fast-paced lives. Rich color photos show how working with the key elements — plaster, masonry, wood, metal, ceramics, textiles and fibers — can enhance the feel of every room in the house and create luxurious accents we can change on a whim.”
The book is great interior decorating guide as great photos show how all these natural materials are harmoniously blended for a modern look and life.

Like what we did with the Cezanne’s Garden book, we have our own raw materials and photographed the materials over the “Raw” book. I don’t know why we keep on doing this photo-ing the-photobook-routine, but we’re addicted to it. With no further ado…
*Left out are the plaster & masonry photos. We’ll update and post the pics as soon as we get a hold of these objects.
