The 1-billion-peso question & mansion
Posted on | June 8, 2010 |
Since living in Malacanang is now out, the 1-billion peso question is, will President-elect Noynoy Aquino reside in the next viable option, the Arlegui Mansion.
Or, will he pursue the Condo-For-Noynoy movement or the “I’ll-Live-In-Times-During-My-Time” scenario.
The Laperal family, owner of the Arlegui Mansion, thru their lawyer told the press, if President NCA decides to be yuppie-like bachelor who lives in a condo, they’d sell the mansion. The price tag of the Mansion – P1,000,000,000.00. It’s currently being rented by the Philippine government at only P20,000 a month, talk about having president’s perks of the job. P20,000 rent for a mansion. The government, (Office of the President or Presidential Management Staff or whoever) shall have to re-negotiate a rent increase in case President Mccaulay Culkin, err, President Noy decides and thinks that living alone in a Manila-Mansion is cool.
There are some positives being mentioned to entice President Noynoy Aquino into picking the Laperal Mansion:
- It’s the presidential residence during her mother (former president Cory Aquino) time. He lived there and he can get his old room back!
- It already has built-in offices, press rooms and communication infra.
- It’s newly renovated.
- The government will spend less if Pres Noy entourage is close to the Malacanang Palace.
- There are enough smoking areas for the smokers. <— Now this did not come from me. “There are also many open spaces in the Arlegui house that can be used by smokers {via}”
