DPC Directory, Cory on cover

Received a DPC 2010-2011 Metro Manila Directory today (4 piece set). If you get your set, instantly, you’ll fall for the amazing cover. It’s Cory Aquino.
This is the winning artwork for the annual art – cover competition of PLDT-DPC. First prize art gets to be immortalized on Yellow Page cover.
The winning artwork title “Ika-25 ng Pebrero 1986” is by Julian Paguiligan of Bulacan State University. It’s water color painting that nets Paguiligan, 100,000 pesos, a Napoleon Abueva trophy, plus a P40,000 donation in kind to BSU.
Excerpts from Mr. Ricardo Bautista, DPC President…
“Her passing last August was greeted by an outpouring of love and gratitude on the part of Filipinos from all walks of life.” “To my generation, it was very clear why we were celebrating her life, since we witnessed first-hand how she championed democracy, people empowerment and integrity in governance—against all odds,” he explained “But we were curious why Filipinos who had not yet been born during her rise to the presidency took part in honoring her last August. We wanted to know what Cory Aquino means to young Filipinos and, through the medium of visual art, what they feel is her legacy to them.”
PLDT centers give free copies of the Cory-covered directory.
