Largest indoor photo ever
Posted on | April 2, 2011 |
As of March 2011 (that’s like 2 days ago), this is the biggest indoor shot in the world. 280,000 x 140,000 pixels big! Not really done in one shot but with almost 3000 photos stitched together and then turned to a 360 panoramic photo or spherical photo as they call it.
This image was created from 3,000 individual photos stitched together into a single image that is 280,000 x 140,000 pixels. That’s around 40 gigapixels, or 40,000 megapixels. If you printed this photo it would be 23 meters (or 78 feet) long! To control this image, use the controls on the screen or click and hold your mouse button on the photo, and move your mouse around. To zoom in and out, use your mouse wheel, or the “Shift” and “Control” keys. Be sure to zoom in all the way to see the full detail of the photo!
After doing the photo stitching, they did not stop there. They want us to have a good time, they made an app where we can virtually enter the Strahov Library and see things up close. And by close, I mean really close! You can even read book titles!
This is the unzoomed photo (click to enlarge)… Notice the lady in white/cream by the middle main door? No?
The zoomed photo (click to enlarge), and this is her, meet Mrs. Smith.
That’s how big this is and how high the resolution is. Explore the library here.
Earlier, Google Streetview did something like this too albeit smaller in scale. I posted it back in Feb, here.
