100,000 toothpicks & 35 years = Complex sculpture beauty

35 years ago the artist started this project and to this day, he still tweaks & picks some toothpicks to work on this magnificent kinetic sculpture. Made out of 100,000+ toothpicks, glue, 200 cubic meter of patience and 200kg of dedication. Once upon a time, I saw a guy taking handful of toothpicks from a resto, maybe ’twas him getting some supplies. :)
I have used different brands of toothpicks depending on what I am building. I also have many friends and family members that collect toothpicks in their travels for me. For example, some of the trees in Golden Gate Park are made from toothpicks from Kenya, Morocco, Spain, West Germany and Italy. The heart inside the Palace of Fine Arts is made out of toothpicks people threw at our wedding.
