Contest for Inventors now open in Metro Manila

QUEZON CITY, August 13 (PIA) — Calling all people who has a knack for inventing gadgets, thingamajigs, and items that would make life easier for those on the lookout for such things; or make a huge difference for mankind.
The Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region is now accepting entries for the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) for Metro Manila.
The DOT press release says that the contest is open to all Filipino inventors, students, and researchers from the private and public sectors who are residing in Metro Manila.
Cash prizes and plaques of recognition await winners. Likewise, the contest will be an excellent opportunity for participants to show off their inventions to the public, as well as to interact and share experiences with their fellow inventors and researchers.
Interested parties may send their entries in any of the following categories: Invention Category (Tuklas Award), Utility Model Category, Industrial Design Category, Creative Research Category (Likha Award), and the Student Research Categories for both the college and high school levels.
Acceptance of entries will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Deadline for submission of entries is at 5:00 p.m. of August 30.
The contest will run on September 21-23, 2011 at the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) Gymnasium, San Marcelino St., Manila.
Entry forms are now available at the DOST-NCR and TAPI websites and at the DOST- NCR office located at the DOST Compound in Bicutan, Taguig City.
