CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, November 23 (PIA) — In the immediate future, Pinoys and families need not go to Singapore, Hong Kong, or elsewhere for entertainment and recreation, as five huge projects inside the Clark Freeport are being eyed for 2012.
Projects to commence next year include Megaworld Corporation’s 400-hectare mixed-use facility; the 200-hectare Clark STAR (Sports, Training, Amusement and Recreation); 10,684-hectare Clark Highlands; Donggwang Clark Corporation’s 304-hectare tourism complex; and the Clark Development Corporation’s (CDC) corporate building.
CDC president Felipe Antonio Remollo disclosed that, “Megaworld’s mixed-use facility is situated between the Clark Freeport Zone and Clark Special Economic Zone.”
It features office, commercial, retail, leisure, residential, and health and wellness components at a development cost of at least P7 billion.
Envisioned to be the premier sports complex in the country, the Clark STAR will have a football stadium, aquatics center, wakeboarding facility, athletes’ dormitories, hotels and villas, nature and theme park, boulevard and promenade, athletes’ training ground, and a transport terminal.
Meanwhile, Clark Highlands shall consist of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) parks and residential structures as well as light-industrial, agro-industrial, and tourism and leisure establishments.
Moreover, Korean firm Donggwang Clark Corporation has allotted $200 million for the establishment of a tourism complex which will have a golf course, villas, and water theme park.
Complementing the complex is a 10-storey office and residential building that is poised to be the tallest inside Clark.
And lastly, the proposed CDC corporate building will consolidate the various departments and offices of the state-owned corporation into one modern and environmental-friendly structure.
Remollo explained that, “at present, departments and offices of CDC are located separately in nine different buildings.”
In the various conceptual studies currently under evaluation, the first two floors will be utilized for commercial purposes and the rest for CDC’s office use.
Remollo added that “facilities for morale, welfare and recreation such as a fitness gym, multi-purpose function hall, clinic, and chapel will likewise be included in the building’s various amenities.” (WLB/CLJD-PIA 3)
