KAKAi Collection by House of Leoque
Name: KAKAi Collection
Function: A set of occasional tables, accent chair and shelving and a wall clock. The pieces can be used together or separately.
Background: Name derived from a wood in the Philippines “KAKAWATE” (Gliricidia sepium). This wood is widely used in the Philippines for variety of uses, like furniture & construction. This is the designer’s interpretation of the wood when used in furniture, a departure from how the wood is used in the Philippines by furniture makers.
Design: The collection unites steel and wood which offers contrasts in form, texture and color. Contrasts in geometric/linear legs and framing against the organic wood cuts. Likewise, the pieces offer contrast between the shiny steel and the natural lacquered finish of the wood.
*Now on display at the House of Leoque showroom.
